BABY TIME: What to pack in your hospital bag:

What to pack: Hospital Bag Edition
By: Lauren

Bag: Madewell 'The Transport Tote'... get yours HERE!

I've had a handful of friends ask me what I pack in my bag for delivery. It obviously is different for everyone but these are just the basics.

While on the way to the hospital I wear a little dress with flip flops. That way you can wear the dress after delivery and the flip flops around the hospital and to go home in. You could obviously wear a top and pants but a dress is less stuff to pack later.

In my bag I take:
A robe and slippers
Another comfy stretch dress
Black panties
Nursing bra
My own pillow
I take everything in black bc there is blood everywhere and it doesn't matter if it gets ruined. No biggie.

As for toiletries our hospital has little Bath and Body works samples (holla) but it is nice to take your own stuff just in case.

Here's what I'm taking but your def not limited to:
Shampoo and conditioner
Toothbrush and paste
Deodorant
Qtips
Chapstick
Pony tail holders
Soap
Body spray
Make up
Hair brush
Lotion
(You can always call ahead and ask what they provide you If you don't want to double pack stuff!)

For the baby: all I'm taking is a swaddle the Boppy and an outfit and hat.

For my husband: all he gets is a change of clothes snacks an an iPad.

Extras:
You can also choose to bring a memory book to get hand and footprints and cameras.
I also made padsicles. All they are is giant pads with whitch hazel on them and put in the fridge/freezer. These are for if you tear/have an episiotomy. It helps take away the pain and swelling. I didn't have to use mine so I don't know exactly how efficient they are but everyone raves about them.

The hospital will provide a stilts bath or a squirt bottle to use instead of wiping when you pee. Please god don't try to wipe!!

And last but so very important: DONT FORGET ABOUT YOUR NURSES!!! They are the people with you during the toughest part or your life. Be kind to them. They want to make this time special for you. The labor and delivery nurses truly love their job and are so excited for you! I made my mom go out and get them a little cake for helping us the whole time and making it a great experience.

I took a bunch more stuff with me when I had Mac but most of it I didn't even use. Plus you will be packing your car with so much stuff that they give you it's kinda overwhelming.

P. S. Don't forget to bring the car seat!!

Modern Momma: Yummy DIY Summer Popsicles

Yummy DIY Summer Popsicles
By Lauren

You guy these are so easy your going to wonder why you haven't made your own!
For my first batch I cut up some peaches and nectarines out maybe a tablespoon of honey ad a splash of orange juice in my magic bullet and poured into molds. Since my son went through all of them in one day, I had to make more. The next batch I did were strawberries and frozen chocolate covered banana bites. Just those two ingredients blended and poured into molds. Are you guys dumbfounded?! Seriously. My next ones I want to do (not super healthy) are just gummy bears an sprite. How refreshing does thy sound?  And after I have baby number 2, I WILL be making these watermelon margarita Popsicles for me!

And here are some of my favorite molds- I'm seriously addicted.

And P. S. I've notices the sticks that have holes in them work better than the ones that don't. Or if you don't want to buy molds just youse Dixie cups and popsicle sticks!!

Modern Momma on Instagram

Our MM Lauren has been a busy momma lately, due to a couple exciting things happening! Wanted to share a few of her fun Instagram pics of what she has been up to lately! Lauren is one of my favorite people to see daily pics from, mostly due to Mac and that cute growing bump!

If you don't already follow here then do so now -------> 'laurenmariemclennan'

"I've been so MIA lately!! With the baby coming in 7ish weeks and me loosing all my energy to do ANYTHING it's been tough to do the fun stuff! Since the boys rooms are officially done (thank god) I can now breath and take a minute for myself again! Is it bad to say I just want this baby out so I can do everything that I used to do? My house has been put on the back burner and so has getting ready for baby #2.  Last week I just got out all the clothes to be washed and next weekend I'm running around to get my last minute goods for delivery. But in all the chaos here's what we've been up to lately in Instagram pictures."

DIY Stamped Pineapple Table Cloth

Sharing the DIY for our pineapple stamped table cloth from MAY #ATECRAFT NIGHT! I originally looked for fabric with pineapples on it, however after not finding any, and being dead set on a pineapple table cloth, I decided to make one! I happen to have some sweet potatoes already laying on my kitchen counter, and glancing over at them, they looked like the perfect shape for a pineapple stamp! So it was decided...

Supplies:
Sweet Potato
Knife
Yellow Paint
Green Paint
Brown Paint
2 Paint Brushes
3 Paper Plates
Canvas Cloth

How To:
-Use knife to cut sweet potato in half.
-Pour all 3 color of paint onto your 3 paper plates.
-Take one half of your sweet potato and dip it face down into yellow paint, and stamp on your cloth.
-Once you have desired amount of pineapple stamped on your cloth let dry for 15 min.
-Once yellow is dry, use paint brush to add your green stems & brown texture to your pineapples.
-Let dry, and throw a fun pineapple party!

Flamingos & Pineapples: May #ATECraftNight

This week was our May #ATECraftNight! To get everyone out of the winter funk, I decided to have some fun and plan a quirky decor theme made up soley of pineapple and flamingos, why you ask, WHY NOT!!!?!!

I have had the idea of using a pineapple as a centerpiece in my back pocket, just waiting for the perfect opportunity to use it. This month we made yarn wall weavings, and I thought the skin of the pineapple resembled the weavings, so it was decided... Pineapples & Flamingos all around;)!

I first contacted Jess at Thode Floral to see if she was up for my pineapple flowers idea, and OF COURSE she was!!! I then had to call my lovely cookie magician Kim from Rock'n Sugar Confections and see if she would be willing to make me giant pineapple and flamingo cookies!!! Added a few of my own DIY's mixed with the talented photographer Balee Images, and bam we have all the aspects to a perfect craft night!!!

Thanks to everyone who came out!! I can't wait to see all of your finished weavings!
